When I first heard that Salomon was coming out with a high-cushioned shoe, I was exstatic. As many of you know, I like a good high-cushioned shoe for long runs and ultramarathon races. So knowing that Salomon was going to create a shoe that could utilize all the tech from their shoes that I’ve come to love PLUS max cushioning, I was amped.
Well, I hate to say it, but this shoe did not live up to the marketing and hype that I was feeling. The midsole cushioning was far more in the “responsive” description which made for a heavy, non-forgiving experience the longer I ran in them.
The upper still maintains all of the loveable features from other shoes (Mantra, Sense Pro, etc) but a lot of the shortcomings are in that midsole and marketing. I was very upset by this. It made me feel similarly to how I felt after the New Balance Fresh Foam 980 Trail/Road were released. Bummed.
