So I am VERY excited to announce that on November 2nd, 2014, I will be running the New York Marathon! This is a bucket-list road marathon and I couldn’t be more stoked to take to the streets of all five boroughs for 26.2 miles! Even better, I will be running with the infamous YouTuber, SHAY CARL, as he returns to the marathon world in style. And the best part? This is my first charity fundraiser (or shall we say FUNraiser!) and will be collecting donations for UNICEF!

As I am sure you are a Ginger Runner regular, you already know that I try to pick the most epic races possible, document them in the most innovative way I know how, and take you on the journey with me. This race is no exception. I plan on documenting this whole trip and editing together one bad-ass race recap film for you to gobble up with your eye holes. But there’s a bit of a catch: I need to reach my FUNraising goal.

Seeing as this is my first charity FUNraising effort, I don’t really know what to expect. I know that over my many years as a runner, I have been inundated with countless “help me run this race and donate” emails, texts, back-alley-threaten-sessions. I hope to NOT do any of those things! While I try to be as ‘non-pushy’ as possible, I have included the link below that will take you to my charity donation page where you can contribute if you have the means (if not, DO NOT FEEL PRESSURE!). My goal is to raise $3500 before October 20th and I promise you, EVERY LITTLE BIT HELPS.

HELP ME RUN THE NEW YORK MARATHON, HELP THE CHILDREN

Here’s a little bit about where your money will go with this FUNraiser:

The money I raise will give children the clean water, food, medicines, vaccines and protection they need to survive. What does the $3500 goal buy?

  • 4 Water Pumps, which will help keep 4 different communities safe from deadly waterborne illnesses
  • 16 HIV test kits, allowing 2,000 mothers to take the first step to prevent the spread of mother-to-child HIV/AIDS
  • 8 School-In-A-Box kits, giving 320 children temporary schooling after an emergency situation

Obviously, this is all really great stuff. So if you can, drop a few bucks into the donation counter and let’s run 26.2 miles for the kids!
